From critical communications to connected community safety, Apex brings more than 35 years of experience to ORIS-CON
ORIS is pleased to welcome Apex Radio Systems as a Solutions Partner for ORIS-CON ’27, taking place at The VOX, Birmingham on 16 March 2027.
For more than 35 years, Apex has helped organisations across the UK keep their people connected through reliable communication technology, supporting retailers, security teams, BIDs, BCRPs, local authorities and community-safety partnerships.
Today, that experience extends well beyond the radio itself.
Apex’s communications toolkit includes two-way radio systems, radio hire, cellular radio, body-worn video, system design and installation, maintenance and technical support, alongside its extensive network of ShopWatch and PubWatch schemes across the UK.
But increasingly, Apex is looking at the bigger picture: how communication, intelligence, technology and partnership working come together to create safer and better-connected communities.
Through its wider community-safety proposition, Apex works with BIDs, BCRPs, councils, police, businesses and other partners to help strengthen the infrastructure behind local crime-reduction activity – looking not simply at the technology being used, but at how the different elements work together.
That includes communication, business engagement, intelligence sharing, incident reporting, offender management, partnership working and measuring what is actually making a difference.
Sarah Bird, Partnerships & Events Manager at ORIS Media, said:
“I‘ve known Apex for a long time and I think a lot of people in our industry will immediately associate them with radios and ShopWatch – and rightly so, because that’s been such a big part of their history.
But there’s a much bigger conversation happening now around community safety. Having the technology is one thing; making sure businesses, BIDs, BCRPs, councils, policing and other partners are genuinely connected around it is another.
The broader thinking around communication, collaboration and community safety fits really naturally with what we want ORIS-CON to be about, so I’m really pleased to have Apex joining us as a solutions partner.”
Apex currently supports hundreds of ShopWatch and PubWatch schemes across the UK, connecting businesses with each other and, in many areas, with CCTV, policing and other local partners.
Its expanding community-safety work builds on that operational experience, helping areas consider how existing systems, partnerships and processes can work more effectively together rather than simply adding another piece of technology.
Phil Wynne, Business Development Manager at Apex Radio Systems, said:
“For more than 35 years, Apex has helped organisations build reliable communication networks, but increasingly our role is about helping areas look at the bigger picture – how those systems support stronger collaboration between businesses, BIDs, BCRPs, local authorities, policing and other partners. There is rarely one single solution to the challenges communities face. The real opportunity lies in bringing together the right technology, intelligence, processes and partnerships so that everyone involved can communicate effectively, respond faster and make better-informed decisions. We’re delighted to be joining ORIS-CON 2027 as a Solutions Partner and look forward to sharing our experience, learning from others and exploring how, collectively, we can build safer, better-connected communities.”
Apex will join the ORIS-CON Solutions Partner community at The VOX, Birmingham on 16 March 2027, bringing its communications and community-safety expertise into a day designed around collaboration, practical learning and tackling the challenges facing retail crime and risk.
